BE NET WATER POSITIVE BY 2030
What is net water positive?
Being water positive means improving the quality and availability of water relative to baseline withdrawal and discharge volumes in catchments (aka watersheds) where a company or organization operates.
This means removing all possible pollutants from water used in business activities and eliminating excessive withdrawals. To the extent that a company can not reduce its impact on local water quality and availability, local water ecosystems must be restored for watershed improvement.
4 STEPS TO BE NET WATER POSITIVE
01. WATER FOOTPRINT EVALUATION
Evaluate how to reduce the water footprint of their entire supply chain
02. TARGET DETERMINATION
Set time based reduction targets for water-use with short- and mid-term milestones
03. WATERSHED COLLABORATION
Collaborate with neighbours to align on net water positive priorities in your local watershed
04. WATER FINANCE
Actively engage and finance projects and firms that could have a positive water impact
